The new female blue dress uniform, complete with white barracks caps (instead of the former female "bucket" cover), looks good. It's about time the Corps' members looked uniform.
I saw some other photos from Marine Corps Times from this graduation, which featured female drill instructors in the new blue dress uniform, except that they had campaign hats on! That really upset me, since the campaign hat, while it's a high & holy thing for drill instructors, was never meant to be worn with the blue dress uniform. It's a field hat! I've seen photos of male DIs at MCRD San Diego also wearing the campaign hat with modified blues at recruit graduations. I was a DI at San Diego in the 1970s and we never dreamed of such a uniform combination. We ALWAYS wore our white barracks caps, never the campaign cover with the blue uniform. So I don't know whose bright idea it was to combine campaign hats with blue dress on DIs, but it looks terrible!
