Not much of a surprise, unfortunately our estimates are a continued measure of how much we do not know our enemy - despite 17 years plus of fighting them. How much of that goes back to cherry picking intelligence in the last administration is a mute point..

Sir,
Don't you think as long as we are on the ground there, the call for Jihad will send fighters from all over the world?
Plus, they have picked a perfect environment to fight in and continue to control the narrative.
Let's use our force to take choice high ground, run patrol and bleed the enemy with Ambush and drone swarm.
Otherwise, we fight them in the west in greater numbers.
They will not rest until Shiria Law runs the world.
Have a good night LTC.

Mark - I figured you would be asking a question on the WHY we would still be trying to claim there was a difference between the Taliban and HIG... when for years HIG pledged to them... Out understanding of the enemy is too often in an attempt to shape them into the image we want to see --- and not the enemy that is there.
