Bob Marley - Buffalo soldier

"Buffalo Soldier",; Bob Marley's tribute to the African American freed slaves who fought in the Civil War, then were officially established by an act of Congress in 1866 as the 10th Cavalry Unit, US Colored Troops. The Buffalo Soldiers fought in all aspect of US war operations, up to and including WWI. Ironically, their first continuous mission as US Soldiers were during the Indian Wars of 1866 through the 1890's. According to some historians, the nickname "Buffalo Soldiers" came from the Cheyenne Indians around 1877, but history cannot be entirely clear on the origin as there are more than a few theories. Serving with distinction, 23 Buffalo Soldiers were awarded the "Medal Of Honor" in numerous active engagements.
