I will avoid these tests for multiple reasons. Who owns the results? What happens if technology advances and suddenly your decedents aren’t eligible for health insurance? Finding out “ Your daddy ain’t your daddy but your daddy don’t know” ( old calypso song) is the least of the problems.

This just strikes me as the first step down the "my genetics are better than your genetics" road. Next thing you know nations are at war. OK I am exaggerating a bit... well a lot.

When I saw the ad for the guy who thought he was German, than found out he was Scottish, my thought... Did you enjoy German culture before? Do you enjoy Scottish culture before? (Haggis sucks)

Technically I'm half Mexican, I'm even fluent in Spanish. I enjoy Mexican culture, holidays and food, but I can't claim I was raised Mexican. To the best of my knowledge, I am none Chinese, but I enjoy Chinese culture, holidays and food more. I don't get the relevance of my genetics to cultural affiliation to a culture in which I don't live and in which I was not raised. I don't give a hoot to the genetics of the culture, holidays, and food. If it is interesting, fun, tastes good, and I am welcome I am in.

Funny thing about that commercial, I'm of Scottish descent, I went to Scotland this summer and even had a Kilt made with my clan (Gordon) tartan. (did not have Haggis but had plenty of amazing cider)

I guess if it turns out I'm actually German I will need to trade in my kilt for some Lederhosen ;)
