This has nothing to do with gun control ignorance, this has to do with draconian control and the elimination of firearms in New York. The fact that one can kill an unborn without much to do but that a firearm owner is not allowed to become proficient with their legally owned firearm is, to say the least, ludicrous.

Let's see...? If someone is going to legally carry a firearm for self-defense, would it be better if they were proficient? or be kind of familiar? Most credible firearms instructors will tell you that proficiency comes with consistent practice with enough rounds to create and sustain nerve pathways and muscle memory. I guess New York is not concerned that you hit what you mean to hit.

In the case of my wife and I, just with our CCW firearms two times a year, professional training that covers:
_The draw while moving off the line of the attack
_The draw while moving to cover
_Shooting quickly and accurately immediately after the draw
_Shooting while using cover (left & right side from various shooting positions)
_Fixing stoppages
_Speed reloads (these are reloads that are done when the gun has been shot dry)
_Tactical reloads (these are reloads that are made during a lull in the fight, and you are behind cover)
_Engaging multiple targets at various distances
_Practice two or three shots to the center of the chest and one shot to the eyeball/bridge of the nose.
_Practice at deadly force distances (2 yards to 10 yards).

We also practice, dry fire, a different set skills 15 minutes every day through out the year; and live fire once a week 50 rounds each, once a week.

I follow the same routine with my coyote plinking rifle. My wife is far less enthusiastic about rifles.

So in New York, I'd be guilty of a Felony a week. Or does reloading your own not count?

I guess that patrol officers will also be limited in amount of range time and ammo. Obviously, they will not be able to practice on their own with this type of draconian law in place.

Stupid is as stupid does. NYC controls everything else I the state, just like L.A. ,or Chicago, or wherever else we pick. Common sense fails as it is not so common.
