Total mistake in my opinion after having worked 2 years as a cadre at Ft. Jackson with coed basic. Not saying women are inferior or anything, just mixing males and females at that age tends to make more problems that any thing good. Maybe they have ironed out the kinks since 2005-2007, but they had allot when I was there. Sex, Sex, Sex

I thought the Marines were happy with the separate Basic Training. It kept the males from being distracted by sex and allowed the females to acclimatize to the service with strong female role models (and not being distracted by sex). The Marines seem to have less trouble after basic training than the rest of the services.

Heck when I was in basic, we were separated, but in a battalion of 5 usually one company would be females and we had 1 private get in trouble for trying to sneak into the female barracks, just guess what type of trouble they had at Jackson with them all under the same roof. I had commanders tell me they wanted to quit because of the problems.

So if my insider knowledge of the "test" is correct. Nothing really changed. It was a platoon with 3rd Bn India Company. They lived in their own squad bays and still conducted the same training like they always have. The only difference was the chain of command. Female platoons live in a different area with 4th Battalion. This platoon was just located with 3rd battalion and were under a different chain of command this time around. Smoke and mirrors.

1SG John Millan So they have always had joint graduations. What ever battalion (1st-3rd) I believe every 2-4 weeks, two platoons of females form up at the same time. They follow the same training protocol and match and mirror all training as the Male recruits. They graduate at the same time in the same ceremony. Like I said the only difference is chain of command with this test bed.
