Good Red Friday morning RP. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Halley Dust and Milky Way." Halley's Comet was last seen in Earth's skies in 1986, and will return in 2061. The Eta Aquariids are an annual meteor shower associated with Halley's Comet. The shower is visible from about April 19 to about May 28 each year with peak activity on or around May 5. The shower is best viewed from the equator to 30 degrees south latitude; today's picture comes to us from south of Sydney, Australia (Hi Cynthia Croft!). As with yesterday, full screen for best viewing.

The shower occurs when Earth passes through a trail of debris left by Halley’s Comet, resulting in up to 20 shooting stars per hour.
