I never really understood the Navy's need for the LCS. It wasn't really built to fight a range of enemies, as compromises had to be made in order to fit certain capabilities in a small hull. Problem is, an enemy such as Iran has air, submarine, and surface combatants, and the LCS cannot cope with all of these, necessitating support from other elements in order to be survivable.
I suspect that they will go down as a costly mistake.
