The U.S. legal system, and other country's are based on the 10 Commandments. This is not a bad thing. Our country on the other hand was set up with a separation of Church and State. A free country isn't and can't run by Church elders. They have to many prejudices and preconceptions of what is "Right" Thought and Action, and what a Sin is. In my opinion, which is as valuable to me as anyone else's is to them. If you allow some worldy item or idea to drive your decision making to the point that you are willing to take another persons right to "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness" from them, you are sinning, no matter how "Right" you think you are. Don't know how I got up here but I'll climb down now.
