Good morning RP. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "8 Minute and 30 Second Eclipse." From 37,000 feet above the Pacific Ocean, the July 2nd total eclipse lasted about 8 minutes and 30 seconds (on Earth it was 4 minutes 30 seconds). I've never seen a picture taken from an aircraft window turn out well, but I think this one did. The wide-field image of the totally eclipsed Sun and shimmering solar corona over the wing clearly shows the Moon's shadow looking out the sunward side of the aircraft.

This is one of those situations where a great time lapse photo clearly shows the eclipse. Great Post Maj William W. 'Bill' Price Thank You for your APOD!!!
