Sort it of a misleading title. The United States did not exist until 1776. If I do the math correctly the US has only been around 242 years. Slaves were emancipated in 1865. So we can only mark the 99 years the US had slaves or we can mark the 242nd anniversary of the beginning of slavery in the US. . Are the British and Spanish marking the 525th Anniversary Of slavery by European nations in the Western Hemisphere? Of course Aztecs and other indigenous people had slavery long before Europeans arrived. The indigenous people in the land mass called The United States also practiced slavery . So when did slavery really start in the Western Hemisphere? Maybe instead we should be celebrating the US Quakers who came up with the strange notion slavery was anti-Christian. This odd notion bleed over to England and underpinned the work of Wilberforce and others who managed to make slavery unlawful in England that lead to the eventual banning of slavery in The United States of America. Were those indigenous people who suffered under slavery any less miserable than Africans brought to the Western Hemisphere and suffered under slavery?

LTC David Brown - Maybe we should be celebrating the eradication of slavery by Constitutional Amendment. The challenge with this topic of discussion is it falls in line with what the Democrats want to do and that's give reparations to decedents of slaves. I agree with you that title is misleading because that's what they want to deceive you into believing that white people are evil because of slavery. What they also don't tell you is who actually kidnapped these people from their homes, put them in chains, placed them on a ship, and then sent them west. They never mention it because it totally destroys their backstory.

CW3 Michael Bodnar - I agree, the first legally recognized owner of black slaves in America was black. It is just pushing white guilt etc.

President Biden and his Homeland Security Chief of Human Trafficking has been following the George Soros Open Borders Leftist agenda since he took office on Jan. 20, 2021.
Congress did not amend the law but Biden is ordering it to be ignored.

After two years and about 400 Divisions/ 6 million Illegals are in our country, Some Republicans are starting articles of impeachment on Biden and the Homeland Security Chief for not following the Federal Law on the books. Biden wants them all to vote Democrat and Chuck Schumer wants them ALL given amnesty. SGT (Join to see) PO1 William "Chip" Nagel CW3 Michael Bodnar SSgt Robert Matlock 1SG Nick Baker

Some paid all already. Should the decedents of Union Solders either get a reparations exception, or get a check too, because their ancestors died so the decedents of the 3.9 million freed can be ungraceful to the point of disdain for 620,000 dead Union Solders, who didn't have to care enough for another human to sacrifice their lives.
