O'Rourke calls for mandatory gun buyback, licensing

I fail to see what your comment has to do with Beto O'Rourke's proposals, as reported in the news article. I've always considered Robert O'Rourke as a phony Irish-American who uses the Latino name "Beto" to attract the Latino vote in his El Paso district. He is also a far-left crackpot whose gun control proposals are not based in "commonsense" reality. Assuming he could get what he proposed and bans "assault rifles", who is going to go out and collect them? Not him. There will be a lot of non-compliance and the cops (and maybe the military) will have to go out there to forcibly make people give up their guns, and I'm confident there will be armed resistance to that. Once some cops (and military) get killed/wounded, how eager will they be to continue what the left wants? Based on the number of local law enforcement agencies that currently refuse to enforce anti-gun laws in places like New York and California, how many cops will actually go out there for this purpose? Probably only big city departments. And as far as his proposed "buy-back" - how can the government buy back what they didn't sell? In local efforts of this type, the only guns that get turned in are junkers that aren't worth what the government is paying for them. What O'Rourke is doing is saying anything he thinks will attract votes to revive his failed presidential campaign.

Most of those 60 million dead were the cause of aerial bombings. If you think having semi or fully automatic weapons could have stopped that, you're delusional. And if you think arming the Jewish population of Europe would have protected them from the armies if Germany, you're worse than delusional.
