Am I the only one who didn't really find this all that creepy? After all, it was no secret that encoded, and often distorted transmissions were sent out in vast quantities during the Cold war, both on public radio, and private. These are simply examples of this. Does it give us a look at how this was done? Sure. But does it really have any genuine capacity to make your skin crawl? No. And the Gong Station audio file that you heard was exactly what it sounded like. A carefully communicated series of 8 and 10 digit coordinates, both naval and land. These were allegedly the locations of "enemy" and "suspicious" locations for German troops to investigate. While this was done POST WWII, the Nazi regime did not officially die out until the late 60s. To this day, we still have divisions in the FBI and the CIA that are solely dedicated to finding and capturing Nazi war criminals (ie, officers). So is any of this really all that surprising? Not really. If it doesn't surprise you, can it really creep you out? I think not. Just my 2 cents!

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel Never got to hear much of what wound up on the tapes. But being a maintainer is was always fun to be on the floor during a tip off and watch all the scopes W out on a target. Did get to see the Cray one time. Field Station Berlin was a very cool place to work..

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel We only got a peak, we had to go there because systems we had dismantled in Berlin were shipped there. Reason we had to go, was we took them down one at a time, inventoried and separated each system. Then the packers decided to put whatever fit into any crate, so when it arrived no one knew what went to what system... so we had to go TDY and figure it all out.. LMAO Military Intel !

SGT Kyle Johnson - Sometimes a Contradiction in Terms, I know. I was Grateful for my CTMs they could take apart and put back together any type of Crypto equipment imaginable. The one I had on the Arkansas was an absolute wizard, He was Born in Haiti adopted and raised by a couple in Upstate New York, Everytime he worked one of his Miracles I would ask him if he would pull his Magic Chicken Foot out of his Tool Box so I could see it or touch it. He used to Get a little defensive about that Crack.
