Just a change of pace with a post that is not about the NFL controversy. I've watched "Open Range", a western movie with Robert Duvall and Kevin Costner a few times. Toward the end Duvall wants to splurge on something before the shootout, perhaps because he figured he and Costner might not survive. He tells the storekeeper he wants some special candy and his best cigars. He ends up getting 2 dark chocolate bars and 3 Havana cigars. His bill came to $5, so it made me wonder about the value of those 5 items considering inflation. Turns out that chocolate and those cigars amounted to $111.45 in terms of 2016 dollars. That's some might expensive candy and smokes. I guess he really didn't expect to survive. All of which has nothing to do with what is going on in the World today. Happy Trails.

I like the old westerns. Simple plots. No zombies or international spy rings. Good guys vs. bad guys. The military historical ones are good also, especially if they research and don't distort the facts. Rainy days are better with a few good movies. I can take or leave the sports. It was better years ago, less commercial sponsorship and less hype/spin. The ABC Boxing on Saturday afternoons was good, but the sport is a joke anymore. Almost like studio wrestling, and it's almost every sport.

I only knew it was 1882 because that's what they carved into the wooden marker of their friend Mose that they buried alongside their dog Tigg. He had been bushwhacked by bad guys, and they also killed their dog. Some really bad dudes. That was back in the original open carry of sidearm days. Everyone packed a rifle on their saddle as well, and they hung horse thieves.
