5 Things You Didn’t Know About Lobsters

Caught the tail end of this when coming back from walking the dog. Reminded me if an incident from around 1979 at Pease AFB NH. Had some exercise going on and KC-135 tankers from all around the country had flown in. I was in Safety and one of the ANG tanker crews from Forbes AFB KS had a safety officer with them so we kind of adopted them. One of the most popular things to do was bring visiting crews out for a lobster dinner which we did. Being from Kansas most of the crew never had lobster before and they loved it and wished their wives could have enjoyed the meal. We told them that would be easy, lots of transient aircrews had passed through the base before and a local lobster pound had developed a decent business of delivering live lobsters packed for shipment to Base Operations. We gave them the info for the pound and they set up to have the lobsters delivered on the day they were departing for Kansas. Several months passed and for some reason someone in our office was talking with the KS ANG and was talking to one of the crewmembers from that crew. He asked how the wives had enjoyed their lobster dinners. Now this isn't an exact quote, but essentially the answer was well when we got home and opened the boxes the lobsters had all spoiled and turned green so we threw them out. They were expecting red lobsters!!!
