I suspect that continuing on this fruitless effort will tank not just the Democrat Presidental election hope for 2020 but many of the Congressional seats as well. That's okay by me.

This is not about anything other than the resistance. Pelosi did not advance the ball on impeachment an inch, she just did a slight of hand for the base democrat voter to excite them.
The democrats mission is to try to keep a cloud of scandal around Trump by fake news pumped out by their lackeys in the media. They want to affect his popularity and try to drag his numbers down.
They know there are no grounds for impeachment but saying the word and making it look like they are going there might hurt Trump in the polls/popularity. This is all a game being played by the left to undermine a duly elected president they do not like.
Lets hope it blows up in their face spectacularly.
