An acting secretary steps down soon to be replaced by another acting secretary of Trump's choosing. What we appear to be witnessing here is another degradation of our system of checks and balances.
Trump has discovered that he doesn't need any cabinet positions approved by the Senate. He can just name who he wants as acting director, push them out when he wants and then name another. Who needs Congress...

It doesn't seem that the Senate is in any kind of hurry to confirm nominations, either. I seem to remember the cabinet officials getting confirmed stretching into the summer of 2017, even though all of them had been nominated by the end of January.

1SG (Join to see) - I'm not so sure about that. There tends to a a public backlash against such abuses once the cult of personality that was engaging in them is gone.
But having said that, I'm not so sure any such laws would even be effective. The current POTUS isn't paying any attention to the laws already in place. For example, the turning over his tax returns to the House seems pretty clearly laid out in the law. The POTUS just said no, not doing it, don't care.
As long as the House and the Senate are not willing to hold a POTUS to account it really doesn't matter what laws are in place. If people want an example of a clear cut law the president has broken, the tax returns is an easy example which it why it's been moving through the courts pretty quickly. What I worry about is him taking it to the SCOTUS, them ruling against him and him still saying no, you enforce it with your own army. What then?

1SG (Join to see) - So I keep hearing people say he won't do things, then he does them, and then his supporters defend those same things. So when I hear, "that won't happen", I'm a bit dubious at this point.

SPC Kevin Ford - Well, the predictions were the stock market would crash, he'd start a war with Iran, N Korea, or somebody, he would act "Presidential" (whatever that means), he was a Manchurian candidate... the list goes on and on.
