On October 20, 1977, six were killed in the Lynyrd Skynyrd plane crash in McComb, Mississippi including two pilots, the band manager Dean Kilpatrick, band members Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, and Cassie Gaines.

I Love Lynyrd Skynyrd!!! I was a Senior in college when their plane crashed...I cried! Such a terrible loss of an awesome band!!! Great Share, Great Song !!! Thanks for reminding me it was today we lost an Awesome band!!! Nancy
