It sounded like something said in jest, to me. What was noteworthy, however, was the response when asked for a comment about it. When the writer of the piece said they had information those remarks were made, they were told nothing like that was said. Then they said they had a transcript, and the response was the transcript must have been made up. When they said what they actually had was audio.......they were told it was just a joke. So, two responses were blatantly false.....until they knew they couldn't lie about it anymore. And politicians wonder why they aren't believed?

Apparently this is a partial quote from a joke Rep McCarthy gave at a House Leadership Conference. The portion of the joke that was quoted by the Washington Post was edited to be misleading. Of course that is called "Fake News" and is par for the course. I will add that the post did put this in the article: “It is difficult to tell from the recording the extent to which the remarks were meant to be taken literally.” But for some reason the folks on the left keep overlooking that part of the article.
