A good example of the misconception of what goes on at a typical military funeral. I have done military funeral honors 77 times and never been involved in a 21 gun salute. Having said that, there was a time we did military funeral honors for a veteran at a church that didn't allow us to fire on their property. We went across the street and fired our volleys. That is the closest we have gotten to having one canceled

I have taken part in a number of graveside services. The hardest part and most memorable for the families are taps and the volley fire. The families are very grateful and thankful after the salute.
