Thankfully more installations are scanning the IDs and not just using visual checks. We need to get to 100% if the law is going to allow crap like this to be sold. Like fake police badges, unless you know what to look for one can fool anyone.

This is a gray area of the law if they are sold under the premise of a novelty or gag or unofficial document or outmoded document it’s legal. I think technically these could be prosecuted, but the arguments gonna be made the chips not real. The barcode is not real it can’t scan or truly represent you as a member of the Armed Forces in any substantive manner that the arm force uses. I think a lot of these are bought by idiots who want to pretend they’re in the military because they were too stupid or sorry to join. The federal laws, governing police badges, identification cards, credentials, and ideas of military federal state local government do create something of a loophole here so I don’t know.

I think if someone really wants to fool the gate guards they can buy a card printer for about $200 and make plenty of them.
That said, I don't know. I have a novelty "IT God" ID card that I made at work using their hundred trillion dollar printer and I see it getting some good laughs.

SPC Angela Burnham as long as someone doesn't try to use it for illegal use, no problem.
