“The Navy announced it was considering kicking Chief Petty Officer Edward Gallagher out of the SEALs Wednesday even though President Donald Trump had recently reversed his demotion. It was a stunning move.
Trump clearly seemed outraged by the prospect. He tweeted in response Thursday morning that “the Navy will NOT be taking away Warfighter and Navy Seal Eddie Gallagher’s Trident Pin” (the official sign of membership in the SEALs), though whether that will lead to the cancellation of the Navy's review remains unclear.
The Navy’s willingness to try to discipline a rogue SEAL despite him having received presidential clemency demonstrates the depths of the military’s understanding that it needs to get this and other elite units in order. After years of demanding more of its special ops forces while dismissing worrying reports from their ranks, the Pentagon can no longer deny it has a major problem on its hands — and that it must take steps to curb out-of-control behaviors it’s long preferred to overlook.”

The Navy like all the other branches must obey the orders of the President. The President was right to put this to rest like he did. It was total BS that the Navy attempted to remove his Trident only after the President restored his rank. And he was the only one out of his team who disciplined for taking a picture with a body. The Navy's actions was completely unjustified.

i wouldn't consider a tweet as an order. trump spouts off hundreds of times a day on that platform. i also don't think he should stick his nose in and countermand a court martial board's decision just because the CONVICTED party is a SEAL.

SrA John Monette - It was not just a tweet. And if you are ever in doubt as to an order you ask for clarification. The President does have the authority to pardon or commute the sentence. Which he has done for military and civilians. He did not countermand anything. Gallagher was treated unfairly by the Navy from the get go.

I tried pipe smoking back in the 70’s. I liked the aroma of it better than the taste. I did crack one of my front teeth. Now I have a crown that cost as must as 6 months of pay when I first went in the Navy. CSM Charles Hayden

A son in a former frontier state did collect a box of Chewing Tobacco samplers for a deployed friend.
The samplers of chewing tobacco were well received. The ‘friend’ was appreciative and called me on a “sat phone” from ?———sp?, during my 85th Birthday Celebration.
