I have a quibble, Operation Barbarossa was a resounding military success that destroyed huge Soviet formations and capturing thousands of square miles. The krauts didn't run into trouble until arguably the Soviet winter counter-offensive but really not until the subsequent 1942 campaign.
As for military disasters, the British retreat from Kabul comes to mind, as does the Battle of Kadesh and Alexander's India compaign and Kublai Khan's aborted invasion of Japan.
