I watched this crew during Hurricane Harvey. They were absolutely relentless in their desire to save people. Tornadoes, blinding rain and power lines were nothing for these people. Well done Coast Guard!

I was in Hawaii for Iniki, Charlotte for Hugo, Wilmington for Florence and Dorian. I was at sea when we skirted both hurricanes and typhoons. And the Coast Guard was there for all of them...even in Charlotte! A brave man can face another brave man in a heartbeat. But to face Nature when she is pissed? The odds are almost always stacked in her favor. I Salute them all!

What kind of a bureaucratic maze does the have that takes years for awards such this to take place. When I see awards for heroism approved long after recipients have passed, it makes steam emit from my ears. Little solace to families.
