I think everyone should testify. Joe Biden, Hunter Biden, John Bolden, Mick Mulvaney, Mike Pompeo, Rudy Giuliani, Mike Pence, etc. Put them all out there, under oath, and let's hear the truth.

This would be calling their bluff and the Democrats will not go for it. The Democrats are only happy when they get to dictate the proceedings and what happened in the House is indicative of the judicial double standards by which they operate.

The Democrats want to tie Trump's hands and hit him and they don't want him hitting them back. And that's exactly what they did in the House. When Trump does hit them, as he hit back on Twitter, they cry foul. What a bunch of sorry losers.

When did the Democrats all of a sudden start loving the Constitution and wanting to defend it? When Obama was in office, the Democrats said the Constitution was outdated and in need of revision. When Hillary lost the election, they wanted to do away with the Electoral College! If this was such a sad and solemn occasion, why were they smiling for photo ops and passing out autographed pens? The Democrats are really terrible liars. It doesn't take a genius to see through their petty little charade.

What happened to their solid evidence? Trump called their bluff on the whistleblowers and they had no answer. The 2nd whistleblower just seemed to disappear. Could it be that the 2nd whistleblower didn't even exist? For Nancy Pelosi, the most important thing was to impeach Trump. At first, she was against it. But she lost control of the House Democrats and had her hand forced. And once she was committed, she had to run with it. For her, it seemed to be a personal vendetta against Trump. He knows all their corruption and is very dangerous to them. Should he win the House and Senate in 2020 by a sizeable enough margin, he could begin prosecuting Democrats for their corruption. The goal was to try and make Trump unelectable by impeaching him. But much to their dismay, the public didn't care because they saw what a farce the impeachment was in the House.

The Democrats really weren't prepared to go to trial because they know they don't have a case. Trump called their bluff on this and forced the issue. The Senate was ready to toss the case which would have essentially rendered the impeachment null and void had Nancy sat on the articles of impeachment and not transmitted them. Again, the public could see what was going on. The Democrats delayed because they weren't prepared and needed more time to get their lies straight and to coach their witnesses and "prosecutors."

Again, whole premise for the Democrats impeaching Trump is that they want to stop him in 2020 and this was their "Hail Mary." The standard by which they are holding Trump accountable for alleged abuse of power if applied to Obama would have definitely gotten Obama impeached for abuse of power AND furthermore, Obama knowingly violated the rule of law (< something which Trump is NOT guilty of) and that constituted an impeachable offense but nobody in Congress was willing to pursue it.

The DNC is literally on the ropes and the public is very aware of their corruption. We are being made even more aware daily by the manner in which the Democrats have conducted themselves in these impeachment proceedings. The Bidens were mentioned by one of the impeachment managers in their statements and that potentially opens the door to both Joe and his son being called as witnesses. The GOP will weigh their options and decide if this is something that will help their case.

Biden is obviously guilty of using his office to extort money from Ukraine and to land his son a lucrative job on the board of a Ukrainian energy company (something he had no experience or qualification for). He is on video bragging about how he got the Ukranian prosecutor fired. Is anyone above the law? I believe Joe Biden SHOULD be forced to testify and if he refuses, he should go to jail for obstructing a Congressional investigation.

The Senate should consider the House's impeachment articles on their merit. The House was to do the investigation and if warranted, write the articles. They have failed miserably at doing their job. They know it, hence the hand wringing and delay.

The Senate's job is not to re-investigate the house case. It is to hear the case (in this case a non existent case) the house democrats put together without a single GOP vote. The democrats have embarrassed themselves through the entire process with secret testimony, unfair rules, limiting the witness list (now wanting more) and no representation for the president at all. There are no actual criminal charges in the impeachment as Clinton had from the Starr investigation (which lasted years).

A vote to dismiss should be the first order of business. If that doesn't make it then a trial based upon the House's case.

I wouldn't mind seeing some of these folks on the witness stand but this charade needs to end so the Congress and the President can get back to running the country and the democrats can get some air time for their candidates etc.

Thank you for that thoughtful perspective.

(No, really. I'm a sarcastic s.o.b., but that got my brain cells stirring.)

Cpl Jeff N. There is the added benefit of a long drawn out trial in the Senate. During that period, legislative bills go nowhere. Hence the legislative branch cannot create further mischief. :-) Three cheers for divided government until we can vote all of them out Hip Hip...?
