There will be some scary applications to AI. China wants to track its people, stuff like that.

China and other authoritarian states face a huge problem. How can they unleash human creativity without condemning themselves to the ash heap of history? Creativity requires freedom, freedom of thought as well as freedom of action. Authoritarian states don't long survive when their citizens are set free. Indeed, freedom and servitude are mutually exclusive conditions. And herein lies the fundamental fact that all who now advocate for socialism (in any form) in America, are fighting for the right to die. Yes, the Chinese may now be inspired to pursue AI for their own ends, but unleashing creativity in a computer may be even more dangerous than unleashing it in humans.
