This article is quite interesting. A quote-

Trump’s election was a repudiation of Obama’s failed domestic and foreign policies as well as his and Hillary’s incompetent, criminal behavior. Voters were tired of the corruption and scandals plaguing Washington that define Obama’s shameful legacy.
Even some Democrats could not stomach the thought of Hillary following Obama. As bad as Obama was, and as much as he lied and failed at everything, Hillary was a worse alternative. Her entire career has been spent fleecing taxpayers, peddling influence, and destroying evidence of her criminal behavior... to include getting rid of those who could testify against her. The skeletons in her closet are REAL!
Hillary had her Primary rigged, cheated in the debates with Trump, and was trying to make history. Vote for me because I’m a woman! Hillary had nothing else to run on... because if it was about her experience or her accomplishments, she failed horribly.
People were tired of 50 years of empty promises made by a Progressive ruling class of elites hell-bent on destroying this country and transforming it into a bankrupt Socialist nanny welfare state subjugated under international control... THEIR international control.
It’s really not too difficult to understand. People wanted real “Hope and Change” not empty promises... And Trump represented a departure from the status quo. Trump promised to Drain the Swamp and to that end he has been delivering — despite everything the Democrats have done to thwart his success including two failed coups which wasted well over $34 million.
Imagine where this country would be if the Democrats put America first and put the country’s best interest ahead of their partisan political objectives! Frankly, I don’t think the DNC is capable of doing that. The DNC is suffering a void of leadership and is corrupt beyond fixing. The Democrat Party should rename itself the Socialist Party of Amerika to better reflect where it stands politically. If voters had any sense, they would vote every Democrat out of office. Whatever the Democratic Party was when JFK was President is gone. It has been hijacked by Progressive Democratic Socialists. Socialism and the Green New Deal are not in America’s future.

Well definitely the right leaning spin that I expect from The Hill but I don't disagree that a lot of people on the Right and the Left are fed up with the status quo.
Personally I believe that it has a lot to do with the widening wealth inequality gap and the political leadership on both the Right and the Left that are not only letting it happen, but encouraging it to happen due to political corruption.
