Loved this...memories all over the place. My Uncle Bill was on the Enterprise, and his best friend was over on the Lexington. And man, when they told stories about the Kamikaze Planes, they said they were a lot more successful than our Press led us to believe back home. Not once did either Uncle refer to those enemy pilots as "cowards". But neither one would ever buy a Japanese made car for the rest of their lives.
My one Uncle even made me park my Toyota Stick Shift on another street and walk one block to his house. He would ride in one ...if he had to...but never would he drive or buy one. I bought it for one reason...it was cheap. LOL And that was way before they started building decent cars.

First, watching men who just got bombed RUNNING towards the explosion to help...you can't help but cry at the sheer bravery and determination to do their job. While still being shot at, and their buddies blown to rags around them. I would not make a pimple on any of those men's assess. It borders on being unbelievable.
Second, I loved these old News Reels (which were barely a decade old when I started watching them around 1956 or so). It seemed every announcer had that gravely 1930' s Baseball Play by Play man's voice. It brought back memories of sitting in a darkened theater cheering for the Good Guys, and sitting at home watching Victory at Sea with one of my three Uncles who served in the Navy, and would add quiet tidbits of their History...if you were lucky.
Most of the men in this Newsreel are gone now...if not all of them. Yet their legacy lives on in the brave young men and women who are serving today. And what a bar they set.
God Bless Them...everyone of them. Every single one. Yesterday...today...and tomorrow. And one day...maybe only peace will reign.
