Humm..... (https://www.thesojournertruthproject.com/compare-the-speeches/)! Ask yourself, which version is plainer and perhaps more accurate. The one transcribed near term to actual speech or the one remembered from memory > 12 year later.

Frankly, from the time she freed around 1826 until her speech in 1851, 25 yrs give or take a day or two, she would have, as many who speak other languages, like my father who spoke 9 languages, her quick ear would have helped to create an articulate more American tongue as a complement to her Dutch tongue.

As the son of a father who immigrated here after WII and a man spoke 9 languages the text of the "remembered speech" says to me an arrogance in trying to put her speech into some dialect to makes the 2nd author of the speech suspect to me. It was nice to actually read the news record of the speech (https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn83035487/1851-06-21/ed-1/seq-4/). It was also nice to read more about her life here (https://www.history.com/topics/black-history/sojourner-truth).

In closing, just so people know the US Navy and MSC are naming ships after civil right icons. The newest are in the John Lewis class of new "Fleet Oilers" with one to be named the USNS Sojourner Truth (T-AO-210). So, the truth will now be on the high seas. Not bad, not bad at all!!! {Ref: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USNS_John_Lewis_(T-AO-205)}
