This was justification to unleash hell upon German cities with British and American bombers in a manner the German rockets could not compare. The bombing of German cities caused high and extremely hot winds that had velocities nobody could escape. Often people would melt in place, and bomb shelters were not impervious to the heat and fire storms. It is said the British public was taken aback by such violence. The US capacity to bomb at the closing era of the war was incredible. The US sent 1200 on one bombing run. That must have been quite a sight.
