The operative term has become "law enforcement" as "Protect and Serve" has gone the way of the dodo-bird. Florida even has a Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), so it doesn't get any more blatant than that.

CPT Jack Durish - that pistol method is now taught to SWAT guys, usually by former military so-called operators who believe that it is the way to do things now. My personal opinion, after 40 years of shooting and being an instructor for most of that time, is that they want to look "tacti-cool" and that the best way to shoot is with the body of pistol held vertically.

Some good points in the article. Personally, I have seen the no-knock become a major problem. I think they need to be discontinued.
As far as the recoil on a handgun held in the manner shown, I have never shot one in that manner so I really don't know if it would cause a stovepipe or other malfunction.
