I don't blame them for banding together, the small farmers can't compete with the humongus farms that work thousands of acres.

The answer to that depends on marketing. The vast majority of Americans know little or nothing about the food on their table. Ask some one under the age of 50 if they can buy, roaster, fryer, or stewing hens for their dinner. They don't know the difference.

Ask them what beef marbling is and how it affects the flavor of their meat. I can pick up a well-marbled chuck steak and a poorly marbled NY strip steak. Cooked the same way EVERYONE will prefer the better marbled piece of beef.

The list of what Americans don't know about the quality of their food is stunning. My son-in-law raises grass fed cattle on carefully and well-managed pasture. On the land he currently owns or leases he can only raise about 25 head for slaughter each year. He has a waiting list of undetermined length to get his beef, and as the producer he's getting just shy of retail prices.

Maj John Bell Thank you sir for your answer, I grew up on a small farm, fortunately my dad also worked off the farm to help supplement what the farm made from selling hay and livestock.
