I am guessing the news report is correct that it was a fireworks plant, if it was an arms cache the city would have been showered with pieces of ammo. Most fireworks are encased in paper or cardboard and the casings disintegrate or burn up.

In an NPR report one of the Lebanese claim there were 2750lbs of ammonium nitrate stored there. I am not even sure that would account for that big a boom. The President earlier stated he believed it was a deliberate attack.
I personally think it would take more then 5,000 lbs of explosives to make that type of boom.

PFC Lisa McDonald - I heard that as well but what I saw in the lower close to the ground explosions were multiple color flashes vs just white. Not an explosive expert by that is what led me to believe the first story. Time will tell of course, anything is possible in Lebanon as the Central Government is so weak there.
