Ex-FLOTUS Michele Obama: “When I’m just a black woman, I notice that white people don’t even see me. … What the white community doesn’t understand about being a person of color in this nation is that there are daily slights, in our workplaces where people talk over you, or people don’t even see you.”
My thoughts: White people don’t “see” me and I’ve been a White woman (aka European American) going about my life for 60+ years. I’ve been largely unnoticed in public like most of all the other White women in the USA. So, what’s the big deal?

She should try to be me for a day and find I'm only popular among tele-marketers. I can walk around public and retail spaces for hours, totally ignored except by the guys on the phone worried about my insurance and whether I have a Life Alert bracelet.

As a "white" male who has lived in at least a dozen countries and visited over 80 so far I am trying to figure out the point of the message. Is it just to stir more racial tension? Is it a cry for adoration? All I know is no matter where in the world I am it seems like people don't notice me. They can talk over/around me as if I were not there.
So, in my pitifully small opinion I just say "Welcome to being human Michelle. Welcome to being human."
