Marine helicopter makes emergency landing in Onslow County; no injuries reported

A military helicopter from Marine Corps Air Station New River went down Thursday afternoon in Onslow County, officials say.
Officials say a CH-53E was forced to perform a precautionary emergency landing in the Dixon area around 2 p.m. All four crew members aboard are safe, and officials say no injuries have been reported.
The Marine Corps says the reason for the precautionary landing is unknown, and it is under investigation at this time.
Debbie Mallett lives on Pilchers Branch road near where the helicopter went down, and she saws she saw it fly as low as the tree line.

That hardly looks precautionary. If they came down and hit that hard they had a major problem! A marine sea stallion is a big bird. The fire is surprises me. There's no indication that they auto-rotated down.

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel I am as well! Clearly they had some power greater than themselves looking out for them that day. A precautionary Landing? Looks more like a mandatory get it on the ground and run like hell.
