Obviously they decided not to look at the 2013 study done by they CDC. The studies cited here all read of a predetermined bias.

The banner years of gun sales we've had since 2013 would make that one out of date, but the point is still valid. The number of new owners has gone up since 2013.

Who's to say that when purchasing a gun that after a background check is done that they don't stash that info somewhere. The gun may not be registered but the purchaser might be.
