According to Army officials, a 29-year-old soldier has been found dead in his barracks while attending basic training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina. This marks the fourth death of a soldier at the base in the past year.

Sad news, I'm sure an investigation will figure things out but 4 in one year seems odd.

I went through Basic & AIT there many years ago. This time of year, the heat & humidity can be real killers. Maybe the rigorous PT the soldier was subjected to caused him to go into cardiac arrest.

Anything is possible. Often people don't get enough fluids and dehydrate making them more susceptible to issues. Sometimes it is a previously undiagnosed medical issue
