On April 21, 2020, Houston Police Sergeant Benjamin LeBlanc, along with Officers Luis Alvarado, Patrick Rubio, and Omar Tapia responded to several 911 calls about a possibly suicidal person, later identified as Nicolas Chavez. Within minutes, Chavez yelled that he was had mental problems (“MHMR”)[1] and that he wanted the officers to kill him. By the end of the 15-minute encounter, they had done just that.

Not a bad article (I’m impressed), started wandering in the end a little, but overall, pretty good. I wonder how a social worker would have fared against this person?

PO1 William "Chip" Nagel - It's not an easy situation when anyone runs into these types of people. I believe sometimes the police are too quick to shoot, but its easy to play Monday morning quarterback. Right now it's a war out there in some of our cities. Some mayors and governors allowing illegal activity, it appears for political gain, are hurting our Country gravely in my opinion.

I don't know about all LE agencies but my brother is a trainer in his depart on how to handle health issues.

Thats a feces sammich and they took a bite out of it. Unless they are a trained negotiator or are a slick talker with verbal judo, its hard to talk someone out of that situation. Cops are darned if they do and villainized if they dont.
