At a news conference, President Richard Nixon says that the Vietnam War is coming to a “conclusion as a result of the plan that we have instituted.” Nixon had announced at a conference in Midway in June that the United States would be following a new program he termed “Vietnamization.”

All I can say is that my 3rd tour was cut short by the withdrawals, I came home May 19th, 1971 and was with the last Marine Ground Combat Unit in Vietnam, but yet the War continued for another 4 years.

I remember that very well LTC Griscom, but as usual every time we stopped bombing the NVA went back on their word and started attacking again.
