There will always be jerks on the left and right. Despite the hat, I doubt it has anything to do with Trump. Most sober and reasonable people don't want to miss their flight and will obey rules regardless of their politics.

1) When I read SPC Robert Conway’s post, I inferred that used “X” to stand in for a year, an era, or a location, and “minorities” to mean anyone who is not a member of the white majority. Apparently you inferred that he was referring to “black and Hispanic Soldiers … in the 70s.” However, his post did nothing to imply any specific time period or minority.
2) He does not say anything about racist terms disappearing. He simply stated that whites don’t understand the difference in usage. Nothing about his thinking is “asinine.”
3) He is not a “race baiter and bigoted individual” simply because the used the term “you people” in this context. Presumably, he was referring back to the people who state, “"I can't be racist [because] ….”

When I read the article, I deduced that the female on the airplane had used the N-word in order to insult and degrade some of her fellow passengers. I accepted SPC Conway’s post as a potential explanation of why some people use that language, and why it is not okay.

You claim that he is “brainwashed,” but I see you as a typical Senior NCO who does not take the time to actually listen to his troops. Perhaps you can take a moment to consider what SPC Conway intended to say, rather than hastily jumping to whatever conclusion your own experiences dictate. I guess you missed that day in NCOPD.

Apparently you are taking the conversation out of context and not bothering to read the posts above it. I hope this was not an indication of your style of leadership which is to jump to conclusions with insufficient data. I guess you missed that in your leadership courses. I see you as a typical NCO that is too busy trying to find fault instead of being accurate
Additionally, SPC Conway and I have had a number of exchanges on other posts, particularly how he supports ANTIFA

1) My original post was to 1SG Mark Gomez who spoke about the base he was at in KY telling Soldiers to be careful. I responded about my experiences in the Infantry at Ft Campbell with a platoon that was half minority and a roommate that was black. My experience was that while there are racists in every State, the post wasn't issuing warnings and we weren't experiencing a lot of race issues at that point in time. In Infantry units in particular, the members have to be fairly close knit.
In response to this, SPC Conway wrote "It didn't used to be this bad back in X" (Because minorities knew to keep their mouths shut and show 'respect' to whites". This is presumptuous in part and demeaning to minority Soldiers.

2) In response to GySGT Dawson Webb and 1SG Mark Gomez above, we spoke about the woman on a flight that used the n word and followed that up with my experience working in predominant black areas. My experience is I have heard the racial slur used by blacks far more often than by whites. It is my belief that racial slurs will never disappear until everyone quit using them.
To that, SPC Conway wrote "Most people that use the N-word are Black, why is it an issue?" (Because whites refuse to acknowledge they need to understand limits, and like to pretend that an old racist saying "N****r" and a young POC referring to his friend as "My N***a" have exactly the same meaning)

3) In response to my mentioning that my roommate in Ft Campbell was black, SPC Conway wrote "I can't be racist, my (insert relationship) is/was Black." (I have no words, you people are just ignorant at this point).
This is an ignorant comment on the face of it. I stated he was bigoted, look up the meaning.

MSG (Join to see) - How much intellect does it take to plagiarize another poster's comments and pretend they are one’s own thoughts? None, apparently.

I did read all preceding comments before I made my initial retort. I reread them, and saw that two of SPC Robert Conway’s comments do reflect on your previous comments, but the third has only the most tenuous relationship with something you stated. However, each of his points is precisely what I have heard White people make for decades to justify their words and actions.

It is immaterial to this thread that you and have SPC Conway have had exchanges in the past, although it does explain the apparent animosity on both sides. However, neither SPC Conway’s post nor your rebuttal reflected any previous dialogue. I interpreted your response to be an attack by a Senior NCO on a Junior Enlisted (it is immaterial that rank was not brought into the discussion), and I have never, ever, stood idly by when that happened. Evidently, that is poor leadership, since I am the only person I know who habitually does that. At the very least, I saw one person unfairly lambasting another with a personal attack (“Your post shows just how brainwashed you are”), something else I will never abide. It is likely that if I happen to stumble onto another exchange between you, I will stand up for you if I perceive extreme discourtesy on his part.

The phrase “my roommate was black” is not the worst thing I have ever heard on the racism vile-o-meter, but it ranks at the top. Racism is one of the easiest and most abhorrent accusations to make against a White person, and I would never do that against you, or any other person, baselessly. Even though I think that SPC Conway could have been more tactful, I firmly agree with his basic sentiment: “I have no words, you people are just ignorant at this point.” I don’t need to look up the meaning of “bigoted,” because I am in the rare position of seeing bigotry from both sides. It is hideously ugly from all angles, and I will never abide it from anyone. Chalk that up to my bad leadership skills.

I fail to see where there is any plagiarism in the post, how about pointing out where? Mockery doesn't count for plagiarism

SPC Conway, commented directly on all 3 of my comments with other RP members, not just 2. I correctly observed this as a personal attack.
While I try to show courtesy to others on here, if someone attacks me or shows discourtesy to me, I will return the favor

Just because you have heard some white people say something, doesn't mean everyone says it or it means the same thing. If I speak from my experience, which I posted above, neither Conway or you were there at that time and location. Your opinion about it means nothing.
I have had extensive experience in black communities and Hispanic communities. All communities have people who are racist. Some of the worst ones are the ones who accuse others of it

As for someone who has a roommate/friend/relative who is a minority, I agree that doesn't automatically mean you can't be racist, but it doesn't mean you are either.

What I find ignorant and race baiting is reading the below paragraph and writing "I can't be racist, my (insert relationship) is/was Black." (I have no words, you people are just ignorant at this point)".
"It has changed a lot since I was there. I was at Campbell in 1977, 1978. I don't recall race being as big of an issue back then. Half my platoon was minority, my roommate was black"

Definitions for race-baiting and bigot are below

Race-baiting: the act of intentionally encouraging racism or anger about issues relating to race, often to get a political advantage:

bigot: a person who is intolerant of any ideas other than his or her own, esp on religion, politics, or race

What is more offensive; MAGA hats, no mask, or saying the "N" word? Appears not wearing the mask is the only offense. No rule against wearing a MAGA hat. No rule against saying the "N" word. I can guarantee that a few on the plane are listening to rap songs blatantly saying the "N" word. So why does the article mention the MAGA hat and the "N" word other than to incorrectly associate bad behavior with Pres. Trump. Clearly biased reporting.

The n word was most offensive to me. The MAGA is just a coincidence. There are plenty of MAGA hat wearers here in Kentucky who spout off with the N word so that is nothing new here. The no mask is just plain stupid, irresponsible, and selfish. These folks get the trifecta stupidity award.

Are you equally offended with all the non-MAGA hat wearers who spout off the "N" word? What is stupid about wearing a MAGA hat? No evidence presented in the article that these two women are MAGA or Pres. Trump supporters. I hear the "N" word everyday when I teach at high school. I hear it on the athletic field. I hear it driving when a mobile boom box blares the "N" word at intersections. All these people don't find it offensive. Why should people on an airplane find it offensive? Do all these offended people publically shame everyone they hear say the "N" word?

Supposedly, a couple of "Trump Supporters" refused to wear a mask. Outrage ! Terrible. Disgusting. Joe Biden abandons 40,000 Americans in Afghanistan after handing all our bases and weapons to the terrorist Taliban. Yawn. 2 million illegals, including drug dealers, gangsters, terrorists and tens of thousands of Covid infected illegal migrants allowed through our borders by Democrat policies. Yawn. Trillions of dollars of pork barrel spending bankrupting future generations of Americans and fueling run-away inflation. YAWN. Biden begs OPEC to produce more oil as he shuts down American oil industry, sending billions of our dollars to our enemies and fueling their economices. YAWN.
I guess I'm too awake to be part of the WOKE crowd.
