Ranger school is just Infantry Officer Basic Course without food and shelter.

I know this is not popular, but if he did mis-characterize his service, then he should own up to it. I admit I still don't understand the difference, but I was Navy. But, and this is a big but, having Democrats attack a Republican for a mischaracterization is rich considering they support and elevate Dick Blumenthal who lied about his Vietnam service for DECADES. Is it really that hard for everyone to just tell the truth.

MAJ Dale E. Wilson, Ph.D. - I understand why they would say that; I just disagree. I had an Airborne badge but never considered myself a paratrooper (because I never served in a paratrooper role).

SPC Erich Guenther - I never said that it was exactly the same. I was just drawing a Navy analogy.

LTC Kevin B. - Thats fine but if you watch the video he did list RANGER more as a school than a serving MOS and anyone that was 11 Series would know what he meant in the interview especially mentioning the larger 40 man platoon structure. It was years and years ago and people are asking him an apology for that one comment in an interview and that it was listed ambigiously on his campaign literature. In my view it does not even reach the standard of something anyone should apologize for since it is commonly done.

LTC Kevin B. And that's absolutely your right. I'm just saying what my own experience has been with people having Ranger tabs..

For the record, I am neither airborne nor Ranger qualified. . . .

Let's see:
1. COVID 19 spreading every day, with over 400,000 deaths.
2. An economy in chaos.
3. An immigration policy vastly in need of correction.
4. Social justice for less than 100% of our citizens
5. A drug problem gone wild.
6. A climate that is slowly turning the earth inhabitable.
7. Prisons acutely overcrowded.
8. High unemployment.
9. High poverty level.
10. A politician was or was not a ranger.

Take your pick which is important.

Capt Gregory Prickett - While true, if you're in Signal, or PSYOP, or CA with a Ranger tab, you aren't called a Ranger. You are a (your job description) with a Ranger tab. Your job doesn't change. Just the training you received and the status of passing Ranger School

MSG Tom Earley - True, but it was not dishonest of Cotton. He's still an ass, but this is nit-picking.

MSG Tom Earley - Oh, and it's not just members of the 75th Ranger Regiment. When the 2d-143d Inf cased its colors, Co. A was redesigned as Co. G (Ranger) and wore a scroll. They were Rangers, too. The LHG stands for Houston Light Guard, the 1st unit formed in Houston after Reconstruction (1876 or so). The unit was later re-designated as Long Range Surveillance, but still wore the scroll.

SPC Erich Guenther - This is a far too common practice on BOTH sides of the aisle. One problem; lying (or stretching the truth) about a personal accomplishment. Two, the making a big issue by the other side.
