Let us not be too surprised if the Russians choose to offer their good offices and related material support to KSA, and if invited, contingents of Russian "military technical specialists / advisors," a la the situation now in Syria. The recent report by FPRI on Russia's "way of war in Syria" is very insightful and likely relevant / convertible to the KSA.

** FWIW, the Russians already have established a slim toehold and advisory presence in the Kingdom, based upon some FMS sales of small arms (variants of the AK and RPG systems) to elements ot the MOD and MOI and related agreements for industrial co-production of military-grade ammunition (most likely at facilities set up in the military-industrial complex at al-Kharj or up in the NW near Tabuk, now a super-high-visibility location because of the Neom project underway in that area).

IMPO, the Biden administration has not thought this scenario through, as well as the implications and ramifications of such a cut-off / down-ramp of USG interest, engagement, and influential presence Curious how the leaderships and members of USMTMSA -- the US' long-time DOD Joint Service SCO -- in-kingdom since 1953 -- are managing and adjusting through these gyrations of the new administration's policy and pronouncements.

Regards all in this thread. Today is Tuesday, 9 February 2021.

Sincerely,

Stephen H. Franke
