LTC (Join to see) - if you hate socialism and Marxism so much, why do you always use their methods of avoiding debate on the actual issues?

Capt Gregory Prickett not when you call me a racist when you can't win the argument. For some reason, those on the Progressive site do that or insult my intelligence instead of just agreeing to disagree.

Pray tell - what was a US Senator supposed to do when we have a separation of powers - which includes Federal and State?
The framers of the Constitution created the United States Senate to protect the rights of individual states and safeguard minority opinion in a system of government designed to give greater power to the national government. They modeled the Senate on governors' councils of the colonial era and on the state senates that had evolved since independence. The framers intended the Senate to be an independent body of responsible citizens who would share power with the president and the House of Representatives. James Madison, paraphrasing Edmund Randolph, explained in his notes that the Senate's role was "first to protect the people against their rulers [and] secondly to protect the people against the transient impressions into which they themselves might be led."

There was a time when Senators were appointed my the state legislatures to represent the state itself - not the people. The fact that people are without basic necessities is a state problem. Now, we can nitpick all we want and attempt to point fingers all over the place but the bottom line is, have a plan folks. I have fuel, water, food, seeds, etc because I want to be prepared in the event things like this happen. It's a wake up call for people in general. We have to get out of the business of relying on the federal government to bail us out because we're incompetent of taking care of our own backyards. Great post SSgt (Join to see)

SSgt (Join to see) - you're mistaken on legal issues rolling along. All in-person jury trials are cancelled, and most criminal defense attorneys are objecting to remote jury proceedings as a violation of the Sixth Amendment. Most justice courts have deferred any civil cases, too, except those that can be handled by submission only.
Revenue for most lawyers is down significantly.

Capt Gregory Prickett - Wow! I had no idea. I know our courts "closed down" for a couple of months but have since partially reopened - as I understand it. That totally bites!

SSgt (Join to see) - yeah, I'm not real happy about it. As of today, in Texas, the state Supreme Court has issued 35 Emergency Orders, the gist of which is limiting in-person contact.
