Sadly this is probably true. Not many to bond with or identify with that share the same experience.

Services for Female veterans is totally lacking within the VA. Support groups are virtually non existent and the pandemic only made matters worse as no attempts to conduct a virtual support group was ever initiated. So until the VA starts to recognize the needs of the female Veterans in their charge things will continue on the path they are on.

I know of a female officer who deployed into Iraq. Upon her return, she felt loneliness, isolation, depression and anxiety. Admitted to a psychiatric ward, she began to recover; however, her injuries and disorder retarded her recovery. She earned a Silver Star for her selfless service to Country and to her Teammates. This female officer would have sold her awards for freedom from her loneliness and depression, but it wasn't meant to be.
Released from the psychiatric ward, the female officer returned to her home in North Dakota. Today, she is in recovery under a private doctor near her hometown. She loves the interactive sessions, because they make her feel included and integrated; she forgets loneliness and depression takes leave.
