From another article in Military.com "Redstone Arsenal has served for more than 50 years as the Army's center for missile and rocket programs." Makes sense to me to put it there, but I guess some politicians want the income to come to their state.

Cheyenne Mountain has a big red X on it. Russia and China probably have a dozen nukes each aimed at it. This would just make the job easier. Take out two commands in one strike.
