It is my understanding that it is a violation of the American Psychiatric Association to diagnoses people with out examining them..Exactly what is she teaching if she can not conduct herself according to the standards of her profession? I think she was justified in being fired.

Yes we have a resident mental health worker on RP who offered his "clinical" opinion on President Trump repeatedly, and made sure we knew his credentials and that his diagnoses was clinically accurate, despite the lack of the slightest personal interaction with President Trump. I don't know about mental health professionals, but as an EMT, I know that even if it is within the scope of my license I can and probably will lose that license for offering medical advice without conducting an examination.

I know that guy! Section 7.3 of the APA Ethics, aka The Goldwater Rule, appears to be an afterthought now. Even if the shrink had an ethically qualified visit with a person, revealing a diagnosis to the public would violate today's HIPAA Laws.

I have gone round and round with that guy and I do not know a clinician in the world that if you cannot be in the same room or in a video chat leading the discussion, you cannot make a sound clinical decision. You can be my best friend for 25years and if I cannot see you and question you, I will not offer an opinion.

I am going to guess I think I know what got her in trouble, she made comments about peoples mental health without actually ever treating them. GF & I read a few articles as to why the mental Health Community never said much about the previous administration. Basically it got down to not being able to comment on someone you have never treated, and if you are treating them, you can't say anything. That is my thought not fact. So don't fire me please.

The APA got into to trouble when some members diagnosed Goldwater with out examining Goldwater. Goldwater sued and collected. The ethical rule about diagnosing without examining is called the Goldwater rule. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goldwater_rule
