In this case tilting. They report the bridge was built in the 50’s. Those piers should still be in great shape. I can’t wait to get the rest of the evaluation when it comes out to see why the tilting is occurring.

SFC (Join to see) - almost became a bridge inspector when I left active duty. I was in nondestructive inspection and had some friends in the civilian workforce that did this. I was not comfortable at that time with some of the things I heard so....the rest is history as they say.

I was a Certified Bridge Safety Inspector for about 15 years when I worked for PennDOT. One of the most difficult exams I ever took. At that time the Bridge Inspection Basic Course was 3 weeks long, in the class I took about half the class failed (a little worse than average). The instructors told us usually about a third fails. Every 2 years after that a certified inspector is required to attend a one day refresher course. It was something to be on a snooper crane that has an arm that hangs over and under a long bridge; that’s when you realize how much a bridge really moves, and learn to watch out where you put your hands.

Yes it is Sir. A lot of people are going to be put out for some time. It will be interesting to see what kind of footings these pier's have.
