When I was a kid, our next door neighbor wanted to give me her '64.5 Mustang Convertible. It was in pristine condition. My dumb a@@ told her no thank you. My argument (not that I told her) was that it was in that creamy canary yellow color. Oh well...

My very 1st car was a 1865 Mustang Fastback when I returned form Germany on my way to Ft. Monmouth for school. If I recall the 64 1/2 and 1965 were identical except for the part numbers on the taillight's red lens and the number of bolts used for the transmission/clutch connection.

Also engine selection. I believe some of the earliest Mustangs came with 260’s rather than 289 V-8’s.

Great share on the first 1964.5 Ford Mustang. I finally was able to buy a 1967 Mustang fastback
with the high performance small block 289 CID engine and four speed manual transmission.
I had to leave it behind when I entered the Army in 1968 and deployed overseas to West Germany
in 1969. I got to drive my Mustang again when I returned home. A fast pony car.
