I want to ask a stupid question. Do we want to take an immensely expensive Swiss Army knife and use it like hammer in CAS missions when we have a much cheaper and proven hammer in the A-10?

Yes! Because MIC and Defense Industry needs our money! Don't cha know lol but I agree, the A-10 is a proven tool

SSG (Join to see) - There is another aspect as well. I read the F-35 flight time is not much before a needed overhaul. Does the USAF want to depreciate their most expensive fighter doing CAS?

MAJ Ken Landgren I stopped really looking into it a long time ago, but based off what I'm gathering the DoD is looking at it like we poured so much money into it, we want to see this through.
