On May 14, 1853, Gail Borden, land surveyor, newspaper publisher, and inventor, patented his process for condensed milk. He received a contract to supply rhe Union Army during the Civil War.

Great share, I remember that Borden was the only kind of condensed milk my grandmother would use when cooking even though there were other brands available.
